Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp), in collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) and AFFIN Islamic Bank Berhad, has launched the Digital Literacy Education programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sayong Pinang, Kulai.
The initiative marks a major step in bridging the digital divide and empowering students from rural and low-enrolment schools, particularly those from B40 family backgrounds.
The launch ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Aznan bin Tamin, Chairman of the Johor State Education and Information Committee, underscoring the Johor State Government’s strong commitment to advancing education inclusively and equitably across all communities in the state.
The initiative, themed “Building a Future-Ready Generation,” aims to enhance digital literacy among primary school students by equipping them with essential digital skills and access to technology for the 21st century learning environment.
As a pilot project, three low-enrolment schools, namely SK Sikijang, SK Belokok and SK Sayong Pinang (an Orang Asli community school), were selected to participate. Each school receives 20 laptops and one Interactive Smartboard to create a more interactive and engaging classroom learning experience.
In addition, tailored digital literacy modules will be developed by the Johor State Education Department and the participating schools to maximise learning outcomes and ensure the content meets the needs of students in rural and underserved communities.
Puan Zaidatul Zurita Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan JCorp, said that the initiative represents the organisation’s deep commitment to improving access to technology and learning resources, particularly for students in rural Johor.
“This programme is not just about providing laptops or Smartboards. It is about opening doors of hope for children in rural schools, especially those from B40 families, who often face challenges in accessing technology and digital opportunities that many of us take for granted,” she said.
“When a child from a small rural school learns to code, explore, or express through technology, that is not just digital literacy; that is transformation.”
This collaboration also marks Yayasan JCorp’s first partnership with AFFIN Islamic Bank Berhad, reflecting a shared vision to bring technology and opportunity to the heart of Johor’s rural communities.
The launch event also featured a gotong-royong activity with teachers, parents, and the local community, symbolising the spirit of unity and cooperation in supporting holistic education development in rural schools.
The programme complements Yayasan JCorp’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Johor’s education landscape through initiatives such as the Akademi Dalam Industri (ADi) Programme, which develops youth employability skills, and English language enhancement initiatives like Choral Speaking, where Johor achieved national recognition as the champion for primary schools and top five for secondary schools. Yayasan JCorp is also proud sponsor of the prizes for Karnival Semarak Perpaduan Bahasa Peringkat Kebangsaan 2025, to be held in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, on 29 October 2025.
Through the Digital Literacy Education initiative, Yayasan JCorp reaffirms its commitment to providing equitable access to quality education, nurturing creativity and confidence among young learners, and ensuring that no child is left behind in Johor’s journey towards a digital and inclusive future.
