What lies beneath the waves is more powerful than we think. On 1 & 2 July 2025, 55 participants — including tourism operators, fishermen, community members, and JCorp Group staff — joined the Seagrass Nature Walk at Pulau Setindan, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jilian Ooi (Universiti Malaya). Together, they explored a hidden coastal ecosystem that protects shorelines, traps carbon (Blue Carbon!), nurtures marine life, and supports fisheries and livelihoods. Seagrass isn't just grass — it's a living khazanah alam (natural treasure), vital to our environment, economy, and future generations. We're doubling down for the planet! On 30 May 2025, 80 amazing volunteers from JCorp Group and the Johor State Education Department came together to plant 2,000 mangrove trees at Pulau Tanjung Surat, Kota Tinggi — a massive leap for coastal protection and climate resilience. This is part of Johor Plantations Group's One Million Roots for the Future (1MRFF) campaign, aiming to plant over a million trees for a healthier, greener planet. Plus, Yayasan JCorp donated a Smartboard TV worth RM11,000 to SK Tanjung Surat to boost digital learning. In August, two families in Kampung Wak Salam, Mersing, experienced the heartbreaking loss of their homes due to a fire. During this time of hardship, Yayasan JCorp provided essential support. Through our special assistance programme, we contributed much-needed electrical appliances and financial aid to help them rebuild their lives. This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild, offering hope for a better tomorrow. When the monsoon season arrives, communities on islands such as Pulau Besar, Pulau Sibu, Pulau Tinggi, Pulau Pemanggil, and Pulau Aur in the waters of Mersing, Johor, face various challenges. Moved by this situation, Yayasan JCorp took the initiative to provide contributions to 180 affected families. Aimed at easing their burden and showing support as they endure these challenging conditions, Yayasan JCorp contributed daily necessities, personal hygiene kits, school supplies, and cash assistance. We're thrilled to introduce the Tree Adoption Programme, a collaboration between Johor Plantations Group, JPG Planterra, and Yayasan JCorp. At the recent launch, we proudly planted 70 trees from 15 unique species, each representing our commitment to a sustainable and greener future. For the first two years, your adopted tree will be under the expert care and maintenance of JPG Planterra, ensuring it has the best start and thrives during its crucial early stages.

The project, a part of the Sustainable School - STEM Programme, was a collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ), SEFAR Fabrication (M) Sdn Bhd, and Urban Farm Tech Sdn Bhd. The Smart Greenhouse, sponsored by SEFAR Fabrication (M) Sdn Bhd, began construction in May 2024. It spans 600 square feet and is equipped with an IoT system, allowing 2,000 leafy green vegetables to be planted and monitored online. This effort aims to benefit both school students and the local community, contributing to a robust food value chain for the future.

Yayasan JCorp, in partnership with the Johor State Education Department, hosted the Johor State Level English Language Carnival at KOMTAR JBCC, Johor Bahru. This two-day event, held on the 23rd and 24th of July 2024, was a vibrant showcase of linguistic talent. It featured 242 district champions, shortlisted from a total of 6,495 participants across 1,335 schools from all 11 districts of Johor, who participated in six competitive events. The carnival aimed to elevate English language proficiency among students, enhancing their English skills, which are crucial for their academic journey. Champions from both primary and secondary schools competed in Scrabble, Dare to Spell, Poetry Recitation, Public Speaking, Storytelling, and Mini Documentary. The winners are now set to represent Johor at the national level competitions in August. Congratulations to all the students! You put a lot of hard work into this competition, and we are so proud of you!
Yayasan JCorp, in collaboration with KPJ Bandar Dato' Onn Specialist Hospital and the Johor Association of Visual and Creative Arts (SERUPA 2), launched the Yayasan JCorp Art Gallery Initiative on 21 July 2024. With the theme "Bridging Art and Care," this art gallery features over 100 works by 20 local artists, aims to integrate the healing power of art into the healthcare environment. The displayed artworks, priced between RM500 and RM5,000, with sales proceeds directly channeled to the artists. The exhibition showcases artworks on a rotating basis with themes of healing, hope, and the human spirit to create a calming and positive environment within the hospital. This initiative is a testament to the power of hands-on learning, where students experience science and sustainability firsthand.
